Ethereum's Sentiment: A Mirror of the Past?
In a fascinating turn of events, Ethereum's social media buzz is echoing the patterns observed before its remarkable price surge in 2025. This intriguing development has caught the attention of crypto analysts, who are now drawing parallels between the current scenario and Ethereum's historic rally.
"It's a Deja Vu Moment for Ethereum Enthusiasts," says Brian Quinlivan, a crypto sentiment analyst at Santiment. He highlights how Ethereum's recent decline in social media sentiment mirrors the period before its major price run last year. On August 23, 2025, Ether (ETH) soared back to its all-time high of $4,878, a remarkable 70% gain over four months, after hitting a yearly low of $1,472 on April 9.
But here's where it gets controversial... Quinlivan suggests that Ethereum's price surge happened just as people were starting to write it off. "It's a classic case of the market's unpredictability," he adds.
Since then, Ether has experienced a 36% drop from its all-time high, trading at $3,089 at the time of publication. This decline followed a significant $19 billion crypto market liquidation event on October 10, which triggered a broader market downtrend.
However, Quinlivan believes the market sentiment towards Ethereum's upside is different now compared to early 2025. "Ethereum has solidified its position as the expected number two market cap for many investors," he explains. This view is shared by Anthony Bassili, president of Coinbase Asset Management, who emphasized Bitcoin and Ethereum as the top choices for investors in November 2025.
And this is the part most people miss... Despite the overall crypto market sentiment remaining in "Fear" territory, Ethereum's network growth is "going bonkers," according to Quinlivan. He attributes this to the growing interest in staking, a hot topic on social media.
The Altcoin Season Index further highlights market participants' risk-off approach, with a "Bitcoin Season" score of 34 out of 100, indicating a preference for Bitcoin over altcoins.
So, is Ethereum's current sentiment a sign of an impending major run? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: the crypto world is full of surprises. What are your thoughts on Ethereum's future? Feel free to share your predictions and insights in the comments below!
